  3. I find it interesting that you believe in a higher power but not religion. this is true for so many people these days but this is extremely insightful for one so young as yourself. I have the feeling that you are far advanced for your years.
    Note: Remember to thoroughly enjoy your youth and you life despite what the world tells you. You are a beautiful, intrinsic soul who is chosen to blossom and you must always follow your heart.

    The higher power is not supernatural, it is reality! It is Creation itself, not God, it has no singular identity, it simply is; everything. We are all connected through Creation because Creation is in every part of the living universe.
    One thing to be mindful of, do not get too hung up on this. Accept it and just live with the knowledge of it. Always be yourself because this is the true representation of Creation and no religion could ever truly reflect or capture this concept.

    I adore your humanity and your lust for knowledge, I adore that you are questioning and pushing your mind beyond the norm, but always remember that you are here for a purpose and it is only through truly living by your instincts that you will ever fulfill this purpose.

    So just be yourself and let the world be what it is.

It’s amazing how you understood me so well when it comes to my beliefs because not many people do. And it’s sad because quite a number of people bash me when they knew about what I believe in. It’s great to know there are a few people who understands me. I can’t thank you enough for that. Really.

  9. Katrina, you have a beautiful name. I like what you have written – and admire your honesty. To me, the Higher Power you talk about is God. I believe He created the whole universe, and He created you and loves you. I also believe He has a wonderful plan for your life. It does seem strange, to think that God could be that personal, but I believe He is. Bless you.

    1. That’s the thing, I don’t like the thought of having that ‘someone’ to look up to, and measure what he can do and whatnot. Higher power, to me, means an energy that created the whole universe and is looking down on us, and not judging whether or not we are ‘good’ or ‘bad’. Well, that’s just me. 🙂

      1. Hmmmm, quite an interesting point of view. More often I fail to come to terms with the idea of trying to personify God. If you read in the Bible, he had a voice, he could see and talk (Genesis). But I think God is much higher than that. By saying God, i don’t necessarily mean the ‘Biblical God’, but I mean that Power, that Energy, that resides where ever it resides, however it is called. I don’t believe in God who is ever watching us, but I believe in God who put systems and mechanisms here on earth that ensure natural justice prevails, where those who go agaisnt the norms of what is held and considered as ‘just’ are punished, one way or the other, even through their consciences, and those who truly upohold those norms, in like manner, are rewarded. Quitre honestly, I do not believe there will be after life in the form of heaven or paradise, but if ever that after life exists, my belief is that it exists in a metarpohysical form. I am sorry Katrina to have to use your blog to advance my beliefs, but I found it relevant here since the topic was already under discussion. But I don’t want to be called a Heretic, because I am not. I am a believer in God!

But however, I don’t want to people to think my approach on their beliefs is chaotic and riotous, which – in reality – seems like it is (I swear, it’s not). And I prefer to not give further explanation on the subject. I hope you understand. 🙂

  15. You are very real in your description. Nothing wrong with that. I don’t like organized religion as well. Jesus challenged the priests of His time and was Gods chosen sacrifice not mans. Don’t close your heart on God but keep in mind that Jesus pointed back to Abraham quite often. God told Abraham that He was righteous because he believed God. That’s it plain and simple.

  18. Thank you for liking my most recent blog post. Unusual names often take sometime to grow into and befriend, my hunch is that will be true for you as it was for me. And at 17 there is no need to know what exactly to do with life, rather to explore and discover… easier said than done sometimes. I know from personal experience. Ideally we all continue to grow into yourselves as we grow older, and if we do we might even become wise as well as experienced. This seems to be the path you are walking.

  20. I wasn’t too fond of my name at 17 either. But yours is lovely! And if you don’t care for it, you can at least tinker with it, calling yourself “Trina” or “Rina” or “Kat.” What was I going to do with “Marci?” “Arse-y?” “Mar?” The point is, I love my name now. And where it once seemed as though I was the only Marci in a sea of Christines and Deborahs, today I can’t throw a stick without hitting a Marci (or a Marcy or Marcie).     In this world of endless human variety, using the term “strange” to define any of us seems unfounded.

    My wife is familiar with how my opinion about myself is similar in some ways to your self opinion.

    I believe that “every” person is extremely intelligent and important for having a specific purpose in life. Humanity’s common tendency to self-diagnose ourselves as “strange” I think is only because we haven’t yet realized that our specific individualized value to influence others, challenge them….And that our negative perception of ourselves is very often fed by the offended responses that others have towards us when they don’t yet realize how much they need us….I hope that makes sense because it’s supposed to mean that being different is good and it can have positive influences on the world around us.

      Just by reading your blog I can tell you’ll enjoy Mass Communication as much as I do now. Although it focuses more on Political Journalism, somehow you get a glimpse of your ‘side’. My university offers 3 medium upon taking the course so either way you get Print, Radio and TV equally and you can learn a lot from it. And of course, have fun at the same time. x

After studying the Bible for over 12 years along with being a Christian, I have found that too many Christians “bash” (as you mentioned) other people’s beliefs. No where in the Bible, either the Old Test. or the New Test. doe God mention “bashing” the Christian belief onto others, as a matter of fact Jesus would heal people and forgive their sins and tell them to to “go! and tell others what I ahve done for you.” That’s what my blog is all about. How Christ lefted me up for the pit of destruction in drug addiction due to one prayer from my heart in a desperate attempt to not die. I was dieing and I called out in a prayer to God and that prayer was answered. Just like no one can take away your belief no one can take away my experience and belief, so in saying this I want to let you know that, I understand full well your point of view! Go to my blog and read my story when you have a minute. Thanks!

    I’m Catholic but lately I’m starting to despise the concept of organized religion itself. How it divides people, even couples, how it also fuels discrimination. I’ve kept it to myself for a long time until some friends opened it up for discussion and I realized I wasn’t alone. Or insane. I just find it funny sometimes how most of us just follow what priests or bishops or the Bible says without question. Right now I’m with you, I believe there’s a higher power too.
